Ingredients:
- For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- For the Caramel Layer:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter and mix until it forms a dough. Press the dough into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Bake the Crust: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove it from the oven and set it aside to cool slightly.
- Make the Caramel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and sweetened condensed milk, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Assemble: Pour the caramel mixture over the baked crust. Spread it evenly and return the dish to the oven. Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until the caramel is bubbly and golden.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool completely in the dish. Once cooled, cut them into squares and sprinkle with sea salt. Enjoy!
